Travelling from Galapagos Islands to Lima, Peru
Although the wake-up call was at 7am, we were already up
and dressed, having awakened as the ship was entering port.
After breakfast we
were taken by panga and bus to the airport.
It was during this ride that we saw our only Land Iguanas, just as we got
on the bus at the port and again at the airport. The Land Iguana is not endemic to the islands
we visited.
We waited 3 hours for our flight to Guayaquil, a 90 minute flight, collected our bags and moved to the international gate. After passing through customs and immigration we then had another long wait for our next flight to Lima in Peru.
Lima is on
the Pacific Ocean and very large. It
took over 90 minutes to get through immigration and customs etc and then 45 min
to get to our hotel (Swiss Hotel), so we didn’t get to bed until around 1am and
then we were expected to be at breakfast at 5.30am (4 hrs sleep maybe).
